Good care starts with seeing the person. Not the diagnosis, not a list of jobs to get through. The person.

We are here to help people keep their independence, not take it away. If your dad can still make his own tea, we are not going to make it for him because it is quicker.

The rules matter just as much. Ticking boxes has never kept anyone safe. But done properly, they are what make care steady.

You cannot just say you give good care. You have to keep proving it. So do not take my word for it. Our CQC report is public and our reviews are written by families, not by us.

Most of my job comes down to one question. Can we do this properly?

Sometimes the answer is no. If we cannot look after someone properly, I would rather say so on the first phone call than let a family down three weeks later.

So you should know what makes us say it. We say no when we cannot send you the same small team of carers. We say no when we cannot cover the times you actually need, rather than the times that suit us. And if we cannot help, we will tell you where else to look.

Test us on it. Ask on your first call whether we can definitely cover it, and when we could start. You will get a straight answer.
